Easy Access to Mental Health for Adults
Inpatient and outpatient assessments are available 24/7 from licensed, trained clinicians. We aim to quickly recommend the services best tailored to your needs and coordinate admission. To start the process for inpatient or outpatient services, call 916-489-3336.
For outpatient services only, you can also contact our referral center at 916-914-1388. If you are eligible, we identify the location and format (in-person or virtual) that meet your needs.
Our Adult Mental Health Treatments
We provide the right level of treatment for you and help you transition to less intensive levels of care when you are ready. Mental health offerings for adults at Heritage Oaks include:
Inpatient mental health for adults
Inpatient care is for individuals experiencing acute mental health episodes. We deliver around-the-clock services that help reduce symptom severity so you can benefit from other treatments.
Heritage Oaks offers a calm, healing environment and recreational therapies, such as mindfulness activities focusing on breathwork and stress reduction, as well as crafts and games. Find out more about inpatient services.
Partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs
Our outpatient programming helps you move forward with your life. This program is for people who don’t require inpatient treatment but need more intensive therapy than weekly sessions can provide.
Services include medication management, group therapy and periodic one-on-one check-ins with providers.
- Partial hospitalization program (PHP) is five hours a day, five days a week. You learn healthy coping methods and techniques for navigating common life challenges.
- Intensive outpatient program (IOP) is three hours a day, three days a week. IOP helps you put into practice what you learned during therapy and start transitioning back to daily activities.
Specialized Mental Health Services for Adults
We proudly offer additional services, some of which are not widely available in the Sacramento area, such as electroconvulsive therapy (ECT).
Options include:
Telehealth
This service enables eligible individuals to participate in our IOP from the comfort of home. Using secure teleconferencing technology, you complete the intake process, participate in dedicated virtual therapy groups and meet individually with a psychiatrist. Telehealth allows people who live far from our facilities to receive the care they need.
Dual diagnosis services
Individuals with a mental health diagnosis and substance use disorder receive coordinated care through our dual diagnosis services. We provide a structured and supportive environment that reduces reliance on substances when coping with stress and trauma.
Offerings do not include detox. However, individuals who experience a mental health crisis while detoxing may be eligible for inpatient services.
Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT)
If standard inpatient or outpatient mental health therapies are not providing sufficient relief, you may benefit from ECT. This treatment is also for people experiencing uncomfortable mental health medication side effects. ECT is a series of procedures under anesthesia where we deliver gentle electrical pulses to specific areas of the brain. Read more about electroconvulsive therapy.
Services for active-duty military and veterans
Military service can lead to unique mental health challenges. We provide focused PHP and IOP programming dedicated to your needs. Heritage Oaks is a TRICARE®-authorized provider that helps you access your benefits.
If you are active-duty military or a veteran and having thoughts of self-harm or suicide, you are entitled to receive immediate, no-cost mental health intervention through the COMPACT Act.
Adolescent and older adult mental health services
Heritage Oaks provides services meeting the needs of people at different life stages.
- Older adult programming includes inpatient and outpatient services for individuals 62 and older.
- Adolescent treatment includes outpatient programming for individuals ages 13 to 17.
